Description
A quick, sweet, and savory honey garlic glazed salmon that cooks in just 15 minutes. Perfect for weeknights, this one-pan meal is healthy, family-approved, and uses simple pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs salmon fillets (center-cut, about 1-inch thick)
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil (avocado or olive oil)
- Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
- 1/3 cup honey
- 4–5 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 stalks green onions, sliced (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
- Preheat broiler on high for 5 minutes. Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease it.
- Place salmon skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Broil salmon for 5 minutes until edges start to turn opaque.
- Remove salmon from oven and brush generously with the honey garlic glaze.
- Return to broiler for 2-3 minutes until glaze is caramelized and sticky. Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Alternatively, for skillet method: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook salmon skin-side down for 4-5 minutes, flip, and cook 3-4 minutes more. Remove salmon, pour glaze into pan, bubble for 1 minute, and spoon over fish.
- Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately over rice or with steamed vegetables.
Notes
Patting the salmon dry is crucial for proper browning. Fresh garlic is preferred over jarred for better flavor. Honey burns quickly, so watch the salmon closely during the final glazing step. For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari. Salmon continues to cook after removal from heat, so take it out when slightly underdone in the center.
