Description
A simple, dairy-free iced espresso drink made with brown sugar, oat milk, and ice, shaken to create a frothy, creamy texture. Ready in under 5 minutes, perfect for a refreshing caffeine boost.
Ingredients
- 2 shots espresso (about 60ml or 2 fl oz)
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar (8g)
- ½ cup oat milk (120ml or 4 fl oz), preferably unsweetened barista blend
- Ice cubes, enough to fill the glass about ¾ full
- Optional: ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
- Optional: maple syrup or honey as a substitute for brown sugar
Instructions
- Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 60ml or 2 fl oz). Pour the hot espresso into a shaker bottle.
- Add 2 teaspoons of brown sugar to the hot espresso and stir or shake until dissolved.
- Pour in ½ cup (120ml or 4 fl oz) of oat milk.
- Fill the shaker bottle with ice cubes until about ¾ full.
- Screw the lid on tightly and shake vigorously for 30-45 seconds until frothy and chilled.
- Pour the shaken espresso and oat milk mixture into a tall glass, including the ice.
- Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg on top or add vanilla extract before shaking for extra flavor.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
Use fresh, hot espresso to dissolve brown sugar completely and achieve a smooth texture. Shake vigorously for 30-45 seconds to create a frothy top. Barista-style oat milk froths better and tastes creamier than regular oat milk. Adjust sweetness to taste by adding more brown sugar or substituting with maple syrup or honey. Store espresso and oat milk separately if prepping ahead and shake with ice just before serving. Do not freeze the drink as texture will be affected.
