Ingredients
Scale
- 2 teaspoons ceremonial grade matcha powder
- 2 tablespoons hot water (175°F / 80°C)
- 1 cup cold milk (oat milk recommended)
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla syrup
- 1 pinch sea salt
Instructions
- Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove clumps.
- Add hot water and whisk in a ‘W’ motion until a smooth, vibrant green paste forms.
- Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
- Pour cold milk over the ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
- Slowly pour the matcha paste over the milk to create layers; do not stir yet.
- In a separate small jar, combine heavy cream, vanilla syrup, and sea salt. Shake or whisk vigorously until slightly thickened.
- Slowly pour the vanilla sweet cream over the back of a spoon onto the surface of the matcha latte.
- Enjoy in layers or stir to combine.
Notes
Use ceremonial grade matcha for the best flavor and color. Keep matcha in the fridge to prevent oxidation. For a dairy-free version, use oat milk and coconut cream for the sweet cream topping. The drink is best enjoyed immediately for optimal color and taste.
