Description
A quick, indulgent, and customizable game day snack or weeknight dinner featuring crispy fries loaded with melty cheese, spicy jalapeños, and fresh toppings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bag frozen French fries (about 32 oz / 900g)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (about 200g)
- ½ cup nacho cheese sauce (about 120ml)
- ½ cup sliced jalapeños (about 50g)
- 1 cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed (about 165g)
- 1 cup diced tomatoes (about 150g)
- 3 stalks green onions, sliced (about 30g)
- ½ cup sour cream (about 120g)
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro (about 15g)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: cooked bacon bits, diced avocado, cooked shredded chicken
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Spread your frozen fries evenly on the baking sheet without overlapping. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- While fries bake, prepare your toppings: slice jalapeños, dice tomatoes, rinse and drain black beans, and slice green onions. Warm nacho cheese sauce in a small saucepan over low heat if using store-bought or homemade.
- When fries are done, season lightly with salt and pepper. Spread fries evenly and drizzle or dollop warm nacho cheese sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar (and Monterey Jack if using) evenly over the cheese sauce. Return to oven for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and pile on black beans, jalapeños, diced tomatoes, and green onions. Sprinkle chili powder over the top.
- Finish with dollops of sour cream and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. Serve immediately while warm and melty.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the baking sheet to ensure fries crisp up properly. Flip fries halfway through baking. Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting. Make your own nacho cheese sauce for richer flavor. Adjust jalapeños to your spice tolerance. Use broiler for last 1-2 minutes for bubbly browned cheese. Reheat leftovers in oven to maintain crispiness.
