Maple Pecan Blondies with Brown Butter

  • Author: Elena
  • Total Time: 46-51 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings 1x

Description

These blondies feature a rich, nutty flavor from brown butter and a warm, earthy sweetness from real maple syrup, combined with crunchy toasted pecans for a chewy, gooey treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, browned
  • ½ cup (120ml) pure maple syrup
  • ¾ cup packed (150g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (120g) chopped toasted pecans

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter: Melt unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it foams and turns golden brown with a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and pour into a heatproof bowl to cool slightly.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: Add maple syrup and brown sugar to the browned butter and stir until sugar dissolves a bit. Whisk in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract until smooth and shiny.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Bring batter together: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Fold in toasted pecans, reserving some to sprinkle on top.
  5. Bake: Line an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Pour batter in and smooth the top. Sprinkle reserved pecans on top. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool and serve: Let blondies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Use parchment edges to lift out and cut into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Do not rush browning the butter; stir constantly and watch for the nutty aroma. Toast pecans in a dry pan for 5 minutes before chopping for best flavor. Use real maple syrup for authentic sweetness. Avoid overbaking to keep blondies chewy. Line pan with parchment paper for easy removal. Blondies taste better the next day and store well at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze for longer storage.
